Wake Forest University is a private, liberal arts, research university located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It was founded in Wake Forest, North Carolina, in 1834 but moved to the Reynolda campus in Winston-Salem in 1956. The school currently holds an enrollment of just under 5,000 undergraduate students and 2,800 graduate students. More than 40 majors and 60 minors are offered for undergraduate students on campus. The student/faculty ratio is 10:1, and average class size in the College is 21. Classes are taught by distinguished faculty members, and 93% of full-time faculty members have the highest degree in their field of study. Wake Forest has a diverse student body that is involved with many extra-curricular activities, including the arts, sports, student government, philanthropy, service, and community engagement. Beyond academics, Wake Forest University also offers students incredible opportunities to study abroad, compete on one of eighteen Division I athletic teams, and participate in various campus-wide events that support the school's motto of Pro Humanitate, meaning "For Humanity."
